ROS System Requirements and Recommendations
 

To use the Revenue Online Services you will require access to a computer with an Internet connection. You can download the ROS Offline Application to complete tax forms for Revenue offline. These completed forms can then be uploaded to ROS.

You can view ROS, both online and offline, on a wide range of operating systems and browsers. The site and offline application have recently been tested using the following:

  • PC - Windows XP - IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox 3.5
  • PC - Windows Vista - IE7, Firefox 3.5
  • PC - Windows 7 - IE8, Firefox 3.5
  • MAC - OS X 10.4.11 - Safari 3, Firefox 3.5
  • MAC - OS X 10.6.2 - Safari 4, Firefox 3.5
We are aware that ROS has been proven to work on numerous operating systems such as Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Linux however we cannot handle support requests for these platforms.

  Browser Settings

You can view the ROS site with a wide range of browsers. We have tested our site with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. For the latest versions of these browsers, you can download from the following links: For tips on how to update browser settings, go to My Web My Way

  Sun Microsystems Java (Digital Certificate Users only)

ROS makes extensive use of Sun Microsystems Java applets in order to keep your data secure. In order to use ROS, you must have a Sun Microsystems Java virtual machine installed and enabled on your computer. We recommend you have the latest version of the Sun Java plugin

If you cannot see the Revenue logo in the box below, you may not have Java installed or enabled on your computer. For browser configuration instructions please use your browser's Help option.


  Adobe Acrobat Reader

To view the documents in your ROS Inbox, you will require Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  E-Mail Account

In order to become a ROS customer, you must have a working e-mail account. You will be required to supply ROS with your e-mail address when applying to become a ROS customer. As a ROS customer, you will be sent e-mails notifying you when returns are due and when documents have been placed in the ROS Inbox section of your Secure Services. Should you wish to change the e-mail address you have registered with ROS, you will be able to do so at any time using the Profile section of ROS.

  ROS Offline Application

If you wish to complete tax forms using the ROS Offline Application, you can download the ROS Offline Application to your computer.

We recommend you ensure you have at least 512Mb of RAM for the ROS Offline Application on your computer.

If you are using the ROS Offline Application to complete a Form11, Form1 Firms or Form1 Trust and Estates for 2007 or later or the CT1 for 2008 or later, please note the following extra requirements:
  • For a Windows PC you must ensure you have IE 5 or later. You also must have javascript enabled.
  • For a Mac you must ensure that the Java version is Sun 1.5 or later.
