ROS System Requirements and Recommendations

 

To use the Revenue Online Services you will require access to a computer with an Internet connection. You can download the ROS Offline Application to complete tax forms for Revenue offline. These completed forms can then be uploaded to ROS.

You can view ROS, both online and offline, on a wide range of operating systems and browsers. The site and offline application have recently been tested using the following:

  • PC - Windows XP - Firefox 6.02, Firefox 7, IE7, IE8, Chrome 14
  • PC - Windows Vista - Firefox 7, IE8, IE9
  • PC - Windows 7 - Firefox 7, IE8, IE9
  • Mac - OS X 10.6 - Safari 4, Firefox 6.02
  • Mac - OS X 10.7 - Safari 5.1, Firefox 6.02
We are aware that ROS has been proven to work on numerous operating systems such as Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Linux however we cannot handle support requests for these platforms.

  Browser Settings

You can view the ROS site with a wide range of browsers. We have tested our site with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Chrome. For the latest versions of these browsers, you can download from the following links: For tips on how to update browser settings, go to My Web My Way

  Java (Digital Certificate Users only)

ROS makes extensive use of Java applets in order to keep your data secure. To use ROS, you must have a Java virtual machine installed and enabled on your computer. We recommend you have the latest version of the Java plugin

If you cannot see the Revenue logo in the box below, you may not have Java installed or enabled on your computer. The following link should assist with identifying if Java is working on your computer: http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp



For users of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, you must also enable the Java Applet Plug-in. To do this, open the Utilities folder in Finder (press shift + command + U). Open Java Preferences. In the General tab, place a check in the box labelled Enable applet plug-in and Web Start Applications. Finally close and reopen your browser.

  Adobe Acrobat Reader

To view the documents in your ROS Inbox, you will require Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  E-Mail Account

In order to become a ROS customer, you must have a working e-mail account. You will be required to supply ROS with your e-mail address when applying to become a ROS customer. As a ROS customer, you will be sent e-mails notifying you when returns are due and when documents have been placed in the Inbox messages section of your Revenue Record. Should you wish to change the e-mail address you have registered with ROS, you will be able to do so at any time using the Profile section of ROS.

  ROS Offline Application

If you wish to complete tax forms using the ROS Offline Application, you can download the ROS Offline Application to your computer.
