What are the browser requirements?

 
    The following are the browser requirements:

  • You must have Java enabled
  • You must have JavaScript enabled
  • You must be viewing new versions of web pages at every visit
  • You must have cookies enabled
  • You must have SSL 2.0 & SSL 3.0 enabled

How do I enable Java?

 
    For Internet Explorer:

  • Open Internet Explorer. From the menu options select Tools.
  • From the dropdown menu options select Internet Options.
  • Click on the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Java (Sun) option.
  • Select Use Java X vX.X.X for applet (requires restart). If this option does not exist, download Java by clicking on Java on the login page.
  • Click on the Security tab.
  • From the list of zones at the top of the Security options select the internet icon.
  • Select the button near the bottom that reads Custom Level.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Scroll down to Java Permissions.
  • Select High Safety.
  • Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Security Settings window.
  • Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Options window.


For Netscape:
  • Open Netscape Navigator.
  • From the menu options select Edit.
  • From the dropdown menu options select Preferences.
  • Click on the Advanced option in the Category window on the left.
  • Select the option Enable Java.
  • Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Preferences window.


For Safari:
  • From the file menu, select Safari and then Prefernces.
  • Select the Security option.
  • Under the Web Content options, click the checkbox next to Enable Java.
  • Click OK and close the Preferences window.


For Firefox
  • Open Firefox.
  • From the menu options select Add On's
  • From this menu on the right select Plugins.
  • Find the Java(TM) Platform.
  • If the button beside Java says enable, click on this. If the button says disable you do not need to do anything.
  • Close the Add-Ons Manager tab.

How do I enable JavaScript?

 
    For Internet Explorer:

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • From the menu options select Tools.
  • From this dropdown menu select Internet Options.
  • Click on the Security tab.
  • From the list of zones at the top of the Security options select the Internet icon.
  • Select the button near the bottom that reads Custom Level.
  • In the new window that pops up, scroll down to the item that reads Active Scripting.
  • Select the option marked Enable.
  • Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Security Settings window.
  • Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Options window.
For Netscape:

  • Open Netscape Navigator.
  • From the menu options select Edit.
  • From the dropdown menu options select Preferences.
  • Click on the Advanced option in the Category window on the left.
  • Select the option Enable JavaScript.
  • Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Preferences window.
For Safari:

  • From the file menu, select Safari and then Prefernces.
  • Select the Security option.
  • Under the Web Content options, click the checkbox next to Enable Javascript.
  • Click OK and close the Preferences window.
For Firefox.
  • Open Firefox.
  • From the menu options select Tools.
  • From this dropdown menu select Options.
  • Select the Content tab.
  • Select the Enable Javascript checkbox.
  • Click on the Ok button at the bottom on the window.

How do I ensure I am viewing new versions of each webpage at every visit?

 
    For Internet Explorer:
  1. Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools.
  2. From the menu options select Tools.
  3. From the dropdown menu options select Internet Options.
  4. In the General tab there are Temporary Internet Settings, click on Settings.
  5. Where it says "Check for newer versions of stored pages", select Every visit to the page.
  6. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Settings window.
  7. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Options window.

For Netscape:
  1. Open Netscape Navigator.
  2. From the menu options select Edit.
  3. From the dropdown menu options select Preferences.
  4. Click on the '+' beside the Advanced option in the Category window on the left to expand subcategories.
  5. Click on the Cache option. Where it says "Document in cache is compared to document on network", select Every time.
  6. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Preferences window.


For Safari:
  1. This can be done in one of two ways and must be done each time you want to view a new version of the page:
  2. Hold down the Command and Shift keys, and press R.
  3. Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload toolbar button.

How do I enable Cookies?

 
    For Internet Explorer:
  1. Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools.
  2. From the menu options select Internet Options.
  3. In the Privacy tab click on Advanced.
  4. Deselect Override Automatic Cookie Handling and click OK.
  5. Under the Privacy tab, slide the bar to the desired level. Click Apply.


For Netscape:
  1. Open Netscape Navigator and click Edit on the toolbar.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click the Privacy and Security category; expand the list to show the subcategories.
  4. Click Cookies.
  5. Under For Firefox: By default Firefox will accept cookies. If you want to check if the default settings are enabled, Open Firefox. From the menu options select Tools From this dropdown menu select Options
  6. Choose the Privacy tab. In the History section, if Remember History or Never remember history is selected, cookies are enabled and you can close this window. If Use custom settings for history is selected, ensure that the accept cookies from sites and accept third party cookies are enabled.
  7. Click on the Ok button at the bottom on the window. OK on the Preferences window.


For Safari:
  1. Open Safari.
  2. From the Safari menu click Clcik on the Security tab.
  3. Under Accept Cookies select either Always or Only from sites you navigate to.
  4. Click OK and close the Preferences window.


For Firefox:
  1. By default Firefox will accept cookies.
  2. If you want to check if the default settings are enabled, Open Firefox.
  3. From the menu options select Tools
  4. From this dropdown menu select Options
  5. Choose the Privacy tab.
  6. In the History section, if Remember History or Never remember history is selected, cookies are enabled and you can close this window.
  7. If Use custom settings for history is selected, ensure that the accept cookies from sites and accept third party cookies are enabled.
  8. Click on the Ok button at the bottom on the window.

How do I enable SSL 2.0 & SSL 3.0?

 
    For Internet Explorer:
  1. Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools.
  2. From the dropdown menu options select Internet Options.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom option and click on Security.
  5. Select the option Use SSL 2.0.
  6. Select the option Use SSL 3.0.
  7. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Options window.


For Netscape:
  1. Open Netscape Navigator.
  2. From the menu options select Edit.
  3. From the dropdown menu options select Preferences.
  4. Click on the Privacy and Security option in the Category window on the left.
  5. Select the Enable SSL version 2 option.
  6. Select the Enable SSL version 3 option.
  7. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Preferences window.


For Safari:

SSL is always enabled in Safari.
